As a trial and appellate lawyer, Catherine Z. Welsh has found her calling by practicing in several varied practice areas. Some of her favorites include: guardianship litigation, estate planning, estate and trust litigation, probate, family law, adoptions, and criminal defense.

Before founding Welsh & McGough, PLLC with Jim McGough, Cathy was an Assistant District Attorney in the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, as well as Assistant General Counsel for the State of Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Adult Protective Services. She also worked for several years for the firm of Barron & Budd out of Dallas, Texas, a firm that specialized in toxic torts and asbestos litigation. Cathy has previously served as a Clinical Director of the Elder Law Clinic at The University of Tulsa College of Law’s Boesche Legal Clinic.

Cathy has been recognized as a Top Young Lawyer by the Oklahoma Super Lawyers for her work in elder law. Cathy also received the Outstanding Guardian Ad Litem award from the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section in 2008.
